The Barry Music Shop was started on 1st February 2000,as an idea to add a retail division to JPL Sound & Communications - a locally based PA Company that provides sound systems for Sporting & Leisure events across the UK. As there had been no Music Shop within the town of Barry for many years - since the demise of "Christopher's Music"many years previous - we decided to 'give it a go' and as we already rented the coach house at the rear of the property - we knew the shop at that time was empty as it was only being used for storage prior to that - in December 1999, we took over renting the property and started to renovate and fit out the shop. We gathered together as much audio equipment, spare and accessories that we had at JPL Sound at the time - as well as contacting various UK Musical Instrument dealers in the hope of becoming local dealers for them. In fact one of our very first suppliers was John Hornby Skewes & Co Ltd, with whom we still continue to deal with today.

Our aim at our shop was to retail musical instruments and Pro-Audio through our shop by tracking down good equipment that was affordable, rather than selling the top brands that only a small minority of people could afford.

Even today - we continually seek out UK Distributors who offer good quality and well manufactured - goods, but with very competitive prices that prove to be affordable for every pocket. If we do not offer or stock something you are looking for - please ask us - as we are always happy to see if we can get other suppliers on board, broadening our variety of equipment and instruments available.
